aight, so I ganked this from this random dude's xanga as I was procrastinating today.... I bolded the ones that are true about me.

You know your from NC when....

You've gotten used to the smell of cow manure on a car trip to Raleigh.

Saying "y'all" isn't just a cute expression; it actually means something.

There are big labrador retrievers in the back of every truck.

You give directions using KFC and Waffle House as landmarks.

You still see Dale Earndheart tributes on cars.

You can't imagine life without Bojangles' sweet tea

Your annual church fundraiser always deals with bbq and potato salad

You have a sunburn from May to October

Your 'heavy winter clothing' consists of some turtleneck sweaters, a fuzzy jacket, and your daddy's boots

Your family has fried chicken once a week

You can tell the difference between cotton fields and tobacco fields while driving

One of your neighbors has a confederate flag hanging on their front porch

Those "damn yankees" are taking over your school/church/workplace/neighborhood...

You've been "properly raised", and yankees love it when they hear you say "ma'am" and "sir"

You get your carbs from biscuits, rolls, pancakes, and grits

You know the difference between a "redneck" and a "hick".

You own at least one surf shop or seafood restaurant shirts.

No matter what those people in ohio say, we are still "first in flight"

The Coca-Cola 600 is as big as the Super Bowl

You prefer Chick-fil-a to KFC

You know pastry is a chicken stew, not a dessert item.

Every time you visit someone you’re offered something to eat and a glass of tea.

Your granddaddy always wore overalls and your grandma always wore an apron.

In summer you have home-grown tomatoes with every meal.

When it rains and the creek rises, everyone gathers to see how high it rose.

You know that "chunk" the ball means to throw it.

You've had a burger "all the way" -  chili and slaw on it.

You can recognize a copperhead and your heart drops when you see one.

You have at least one relative that raises collards.

Your folks have taken trips to the mountains to look at leaves.

Your school classes were cancelled because of a hurricane.

You know Krispy Kreme makes the best doughnut.

You have an opinion about UNC. You went there and loved it, or you hate everyone who did.

You know the best BBQ is found in Lexington

You would rather eat at Bojangles's than McDonald's

You have actually uttered the phrase "It's too hot to go to the pool"

You faithfully drink Pepsi or Mt. Dew everyday of your life.

You have your own secret bbq sauce.

You or your neighbors have more hunting dogs than you have family members.

You actually get these jokes and pass them on to other friends from North Carolina.

... well then. I hit all of them but seven... maybe that's kinda sad... I'm not sure

word... I haven't updated for a month and a half  ... not sure why that makes me happy exactly... I'm not sure really why I'm updating now. that being said, for once in my life I actually wrote a song that has some actual meaning. everything else I've written so far (speaking of which... people have streamed our songs over 1000 times as of today, and downloaded them 100 additional times. word.) it's all been rather general. not to say that there's no feeling behind them, that'd be rather impossible I think.  but the song I wrote today was actually written specifically for somebody.  I don't ever ever plan on telling anyone who it's aimed at (except bryan of course), unless I ever end up dating her, which I feel at this point is rather unlikely. [I used up all my correct grammar on my thesis paper today, so you're going to have to deal with a couple of run-ons. it's unlikely that I'm going to break into another paragraph either, so suck it up.]  anywho. the song will get recorded probably... end of next week -- aka whenever I finish my thesis paper. I'm still trying to decide if I want to put the lyrics up... haha can you tell I'm excited about it? I can't say too much, cause honestly, on the grand scale I don't consider my music very good at all - hardly worth playing live, outside of like six string cafe, so I'm afraid if I say too much, you're all going to be highly disappointed.  if nothing else, the song ought to make me sound decent at guitar. haha even though I'm not. I should probably be in a band playing drums -- that's about the only thing that I'll actually admit I'm pretty good at.

aight, I had to break it up. I'm changing topics like whoa. So. I went and saw my old band, Evans Road, play at the brewery last sunday. awesome. awesome awesome awesome. and kinda sad. they played all of like... one or two songs that I didn't know. the new drummer (who is effing sick, btw.) was actually playing my old drumset. I walked into the brewery as they were putting the bass drum on the stage and I usually check out each band's equipment before they play, cause lets face it... musicians judge each other like crazy by what they play, just as much as how they play --- anyways... so I'm looking at the drums as they're carrying them past me... and then I realized that they were mine! yeah that was mad strange. eh whatever, I'm glad somebody's putting them to good use. and honestly, I didn't know those drums were capable of sounding like that. I was impressed. So I hung out with the guys after the show, which was fun, and very gross. you couldn't pay me to live in UT. so I was leaving, I stepped into the elevator and recognized this girl who I had a class with at apex, and she was like holding this other chick's hand, and then they walked away still holding hands... but ah.. she was definitely straight in high school. so that pretty much fried my brain.

yess... another page break... I hope you all are as excited as I am. this sunday and last sunday our church's praise band has been playing music in nursing homes... and this sunday was awesome. we were warming up right... and I look up from my djembe drum, and this old black dude is dancing in the back of the room. so we got the dude up in front with us, and everytime we played, he danced and sang. nope he didn't know the words ---- he made up words. nope didn't even clap on beat. just clapped to his own beat, and sang random stuff. but mannn it was awesome. I could've taken that guy home to live with me, and just played music for/with him all day long. that pretty well made my day, aside from it being absolutely gorgeous out, and I got to see several very gorgeous ladies today, and all that in conjunction made it a very good day.

aight, so in light of the fact that I'm sure none of you read all that anyway.... I'm gonna stop now. more to come in a few days, that is... if I can think of anything to write. most likely my brain's gonna be all used up for the next two weeks. I would say 'don't get your hopes up'... but who gets excited about reading somebody's xanga anyway?

wow.... I've been away from home for a very, very long time.... what did I miss most? probably Scout. poor Buddy missed us so bad he can't even meow.... he just croaks... all the time.

I've covered a heck of a lot of ground in the past two weeks. skied in Steamboat, Colorado... which was friggin awesome... then flew to Honolulu, Hawaii for a few days... yep... United Airlines sucksss... they lost our luggage both coming to and leaving CO... so we had to buy clothes in Hawaii to wear until our luggage came. We were dressed for a blizzard when we left CO (indeed... our plane was the last to make it out before everyone got grounded due to the snow.), so we looked rediculous walking around hawaii in boots.  the first day... we were all wicked tired cause we got to the hotel at the same time you kids were waking up for school last friday. anywho... hawaii was absolutely awesome.  we took welllllll over 300 pictures. I've got a good deal of them online. we went snorkeling on a reef with lots of fishies... went to a luau that night... it was really commercialized, but still pretty awesome.... went mountain biking in the place they filmed Jurassic Park... along with about 50 other movies and tv shows ranging from Tears of the Sun and Windtalkers, to...................... the Dolly Parton Movie. Our tour guide was a forestry guy so he gave us wild guavas, coconuts, sugar cane, and papayas on the side of the trail.  that was pretty wicked.  we went to two different memorials -- the arizona and the punchbowl memorial... both were extreeeeeemely powerful. at the Arizona though... there were these japanese dudes who were like reinacting the attack on this small scale model of the island built outside... that was, to say the least... angering. the punchbowl memorial was a bit of a relief in that sense. in case you're unaware as to what the punchbowl is (as I was before I went there), it's the National Cemetery for the Pacific. so it's a whole lot like Arlington Cemetery in Washington, DC -- except this one is inside the crater of a long inactive volcano... so that was extremely cool. it was kinda relieving cause there were depictions in colored marble stone of all the battles in the pacific... and how we... um... won the war. so while those jap dudes were somewhat reveling in how they ambushed us at Pearl Harbor, I got to inwardly revel in how we won many of those battles even though we were greatly outnumbered (especially Midway... where we sunk basically all of Japan's aircraft carriers, despite being greaatttly outnumbered in terms of ships).... anywho. for my birthday we went on a helicopter ride that took us over the whole island... that was pretty friggin cool. I'd never been in a helicopter before. sadly most of the pictures I took have a bit of a glare on them from the window, but they video the entire flight as well as the pilot's commentary, so that should be incredible (hopefully... I have yet to see it).

oh yeah. I turned 18 yesterday. haha..... and my birthday ended up being quite literally the longest day of my life -- because we flew back that night, and due to the time change, we had a 29 hour day, instead of 24... haha.. I'm an idiot.

on to the pictures!  :
